Rolls-Royce is preparing for its debut in the 100% electric vehicle market. The luxury carmaker is developing its first series-produced electric car that will officially debut in 2023 under the Rolls-Royce Specter name .
According to the manufacturer, this zero-emission model will change the entire luxury car segment. Pending the official presentation, Rolls-Royce will carry out a series of tests that will allow it to develop its first full electric at its best .
The final car will be heavily inspired by the prototype shown in September
Certainly, the British company is no stranger to the changes taking place in the European automotive sector. Torsten Müller-Ötvös , CEO of Rolls-Royce, said some time ago that the final car will fully mirror the fully camouflaged prototype that premiered in September .
It is a two-door model whose lines and shapes place it as a possible replacement for the current Wraith. Unfortunately, at the moment the automaker has not confirmed whether the production of the latter will be finished, but the latest information leaked on the Internet does not bode well.
What's more, both the Wraith and the Dawn convertible are the only models in the Rolls-Royce range that haven't been revamped, so the old technology is still on board. By contrast, Cullinan, Ghost, and Phantom are based on a new platform that embraces electrification.
The impressive front grille will remain
Returning to the new Rolls-Royce Specter , the design will be a clear evolution of the language followed until now by the British company. However, Ötvös has ensured that the imposing front grille will be present on the BMW Group's first electric car and also the doors will have a reverse opening, just as seen on the Wraith.
Apart from the exterior design and the various customization options for the interior, nothing is currently known about the electric powertrain. The commercial launch of the new Specter is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023 , so it will be a 2024 model year . Instead, production will take place at the Goodwood plant in the UK.
Brand New Rolls-Royce electric future is beginning.
